How to write content that AI engines quote
How to write content for AI search: lead with a direct answer, be specific, and structure pages so AI can quote a clean sentence about you.
Answer first
Open each important page with two or three sentences that directly answer the question it targets, and name your brand in them. Models favour passages they can quote cleanly.
Example: "Acme is project management software for creative agencies of 10–200 people. Teams use it to plan client work, track time and send invoices in one place."
Match the questions buyers ask
Use your missed queries from the Results tab. For each, make sure some page on your site:
- Uses the question (or close phrasing) as an H2.
- Answers it in a short paragraph before going into detail.
- States who it's for and who it isn't for — specificity builds trust.
- Includes proof: numbers, client results, named case studies.
Comparison and alternatives pages
Honest "You vs Competitor" and "Competitor alternatives" pages are heavily used by AI when buyers compare options. Be fair to the competitor — one-sided pages are less likely to be trusted.
Keep it fresh
Show a visible "last updated" date and refresh key pages regularly with new data. AI search favours current sources, especially for "in 2026" style questions.
